Also beginning on September 12^th the Kick-off for “Your Best” Caring Habits featuring Dana Graham and Matt Capron will start. 

This month’s focus is on Safety.  Students will be participating in a safety fair on October 24^th.  Watch for more details. 

“Your Best” Caring Habits with Dana Graham & Matt Capron, Women’s Services will be on October 10^th.  The girls will be working with Dana Graham on Defining Healthy Relationships and be introduced to Pilates.  Matt Capron will continue to work with the boys on the topic of stereotyping. Remember to “Be Patient and Listen” for important safety information.

Students learning about different stress reducing activities.  These included reducing stress through creativity, humor, reading/inspiration, physical activity and learning new things.  Several different MHS staff members and MHS alumni volunteered their time to present the activities.

This month students remembered their families during the holiday season. 

This month students learned different ways to “lend-a-hand” in their community.  Mr Bob Potts from the Townville Lions Club discussed the Leos program with the students.  Next on the agenda was Steve Potts, Randolph VFD, Josh Hutchison and James Brown Townville VFD discussing ways to support and serve through the local fire departments.  Then students then heard about various community service projects completed by MHS seniors.

“Your Best Caring Habit” activity for the month was learning about drumming as a way to reduce stress.  Jason Ashbaugh demonstrated and encouraged students to use the African drums.  Then Elizabeth Prather spoke to the girls about resolving conflict with her experience through the legal field.

The Traveling Erie Zoo visited the Woodshed.  Students learned a great deal about turtles, scorpions, hedgehogs, and other critters.  Students were very interested in all the information that the Erie Zoo had to give to the students and were amazed at some of the facts that they learned.  In addition to the Erie Zoo, students also learned about eagles in northwest Pennsylvania.  Linda Armstrong from Pymatuning State Park spoke with the students about the eagles that live in the area. 

 “Your Best” Caring Habits celebrated a year of interesting activities by showing appreciation to all the different speakers that helped make the program a success.  The girls hosted an Appreciation Tea with Connie Youngblood as the keynote speaker.  The boys participated in a Chalk Walk outside.  Please check the MHS homepage for pictures from the event.
