Welcome March!
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
During the month of March we hope to see signs of spring. It has been a long cold winter! March will get off to an exciting start with Read Across America on March 2nd and Teacher in-service (no school for students) will be March 12th. March 15th is a make -up day for the January 4th snow day and April 1st will be the make-up day for the February 26th snow day.
Please notice that during this month of March we will have a county wide emergency weather drill. The students will practice this before the actual drill day. I like you to be aware of the drill ahead of time so you can reassure our youngest students that this is like practicing a fire drill.
As spring approaches we will be reminding students of our school rules and reinforcing good behavior through morning meetings. Please take a few minutes to talk with your children about our rules and remind them that at CSES we expect children to follow the rules, use friendly language, refrain from making threats, and keep their hands and feet to themselves.
On March 22nd we will be launching our Reading Olympics. As a school we will be working together to read 300,000 units. We hope to reach our goal and have a celebration at the end of April. There will be more information coming home later in the month.
Finally, we will be having an Elementary Showcase at CSES this year. This event will be on March 22nd from 6:00-7:00 PM. We will have tables set up in the gym and around the building for students to show off their projects. Edinboro University will be here with activities and refreshments will be provided. It should be an exciting night for everyone! Hope to see you there!

CSES Hosts the Gold Card Luncheon
Happy Thanksgiving
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
December is upon us and it will go by very quickly! As we enter the winter months, I wanted to remind the parents and students at CSES that we will be going outside when the temperature is 25 degrees or above. Please be sure that students are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions. It gets very windy on the playground and students need to be prepared.
Please be aware that in the event of a 2 hour delay or cancellation notification will be broadcast through the Erie television and local radio stations and through the Global Connect notification system. In the event of an early dismissal, please be sure that the forms with directions for student care and transportation have been returned to your child’s teacher ASAP.
Please be aware that some of our busses are near capacity and if you are planning to have more than 1 or 2 students ride home on an alternate bus you should check with the driver in advance to be sure there is ample space to accommodate large groups. Once a bus is at capacity we cannot overload. Extra students may have to find another ride.
The Annual Gold Card Luncheon is scheduled for December 17, 2009. The Gold Card Club has been in existence for over 30 years and provides district citizens 60 years and older with free entrance to all district-sponsored activities and/or events. In addition, the district sponsors the annual Christmas Luncheon as an opportunity for members to meet the pupils, teachers, and administration. Reservations can be called into the school office.
