Dear Parents,

Wow! September has flown by so quickly; I can’t believe October is here! The school year started off very well.

During the month of September Mrs. Kantz and I were able to visit every room and talk about school rules. Students were reminded of my expectations for their behavior and we reviewed the School Handbook. It was wonderful to be able to get into the classrooms and see everyone early in the school year.

CSES was visited by several members of the National Guard that were part of the group being deployed this month. They visited classrooms, had lunch, and were entertained by Mrs. Leandro’s Class. We lined Steele Street and the playground area as 2 bus loads of soldiers marched past. Our students created banners and signs to wish them well and provide them with a nice send off.

Trooper Greenlee visited CSE and met with each classroom to talk about Bus Safety. His program provided safety tips for riding, exiting, entering, and waiting for the bus. The students really enjoyed his presentation. He was very good with the children.

Mrs. Kantz and I were able to pull seven names out of the Positive Action Jars and have lunch with Samantha (grade 6), Jordan (Kdg.), Devon (grade 1), Gavin (grade 2), Marcie (grade 5), Peter (grade 3), and Sami (grade 4). This was one of the highlights of the month. I plan to schedule one day each month to have lunch with students.

As we enter October and come upon Halloween I would like to remind everyone that at CSES we have a 1:30 Grand March for students in grades K-3. Students are permitted to dress up in costumes for the event. Please remember that costumes are to be appropriate for school. No blood and guts or weapons of any kind are permitted. Class parties will begin after the Grand March in individual classes. Teachers will be sending information home in their newsletters with details. If you are sending treats in they must be pre-packaged.

As you can see, September was very exciting. We have many things planned for October including: Fire Safety Week, Bully Prevention kick off week, Picture Day, Red Ribbon Week, and Halloween activities. Please consider volunteering to help out in your child’s classroom or volunteering to help the PTO. It is with your continued support that the students at CSE will continue to grow and develop into competent young adults.

Sincerely,

            Patti Fiely

             Principal
