Tutoring for the Improvement of PENNCREST Students

The Accountability Block Grant has taken a twist this year.  It has initiated a tutoring program for the PENNCRST School District.  This program is called TIPS, Tutoring for the Improvement of PENNCREST Students.  It is still government funded and must meet grant criteria.

How can my child receive tutoring?

It is easy and free!  Simple click on the appropriate email link.  The tutor will contact your child in their attendance area to begin the tutoring process.

When will my child receive tutoring services?

The tutors travel to each building.  They work collaboratively with content area teachers, guidance, and administration to find what works best for each student.  The tutors push in to content classes and tutorial.  The tutorial allows for small group instruction and sometimes a one on one instructional setting.  There are also opprotunities for peer tutoring.

The 7th and 8th grade PENNCREST Learning Skills program facilitators are pleased to announce data collected across the district indicated that students that participated in this grant-funded program demonstrated measurable improvement in their ability to read and interpret text structure. Students’ PSSA scores increased in all three attendance areas!

Congratulations to these students and keep up the hard work in 06-07.
