In all of the schools, students have the best of both worlds. Tutors push into the classroom during content classes to assist teachers. Students can utilize the tutor for small group instruction. They do not miss any content or instruction time out of the classroom. Tutorial is another opportunity for students to reach tutors and small group instruction time. The tutors will tutor small groups according to need. There are many advantages from the accountability block grant for students and teachers. Many content resource materials were purchased with grant money. There are reading listening centers using novels from Reading class on tape for students to listen to the book being read. This helps to reach out to the students with different learning styles. Math manipulatives help further demonstrate specific concepts. Smart boards are now offered in all attendance areas for teachers to use in their middle school classrooms as well.

There are a total of 153 students throughout the district that benefit from the T.I.P.S. program. Their past standardized test scores, last year’s final grades, and experience with previous educators demonstrate the ability of functioning at a higher level. Through application of current research these students can raise their test scores. We follow Marzano’s teaching strategies which is based on research. Research based learning skills have been proven to help raise test scores.
>Because we have the majority of our students at the end of the day, we provide snacks for our students. Research also shows students are unable to learn if they are hungry. Therefore, when appropriate they are able to have snacks. |
