A/V Calendar

The SHS Audio/Visual Crew consists of 29 students in grades 9-12. Our responsibilities include providing sound for indoor sporting events, setting up sound/equipment for assemblies and meetings, as well as providing support for classroom audio/visual equipment. Each member must participate in ten duties throughout the school year. Academic policies of the school district must be followed in order to be eligible to participate.

How do I become a member of the A/V Crew? Applications must be filled out and turned in by the beginning of May of each year. Members are chosen by the Advisor with the help of faculty members. Due to limited availability of spaces, the following criteria are used in the selection of new members: dependability, willingness to learn, availability, attendance record, academic record and character.

What else does the crew do? A fundraiser is held each Fall. We  have sold Home Interiors candles and stromboli.  The monies raised are used to pay for our annual field trip and meetings as well as Senior shirts. Members must participate in the fundraiser (or buy-out) and assist with a number of school and/or after-school activities in order to go on the field trip and attend the meetings. The crew has visited several Erie, PA television and radio stations.  In April of 2008,  we toured The Tom Ridge Environmental Center in Erie. In 2009 we explored Plaza Bowling Lanes in Meadville, PA.  A big thanks to them for a wonderful time.  The A/V crew has also purchased equipment (video camera, VCR/DVD recorder) for SHS as well as helping to sponsor the April, 2009 edition of the school paper, The Panther Press.
