Finally a clear victor in the ecocolumn challenge is evident. An 8th period group was able to create an ecocolumn that supported life the longest. The ecocolumn was constructed back in mid September and the fish living in the aquatic chamber is still going strong. Plans have been made to release the lonely little fishy back to the tank he came from where it will have other friend fishies to hang out with. We are all grateful to the many fish who sacrificed their lives in the name of science during the ecocolumn challenge. Please congratulate the winners if you see them. See the photo for identification.

It is a shame that I don’t make the time to update my site more often. I’m sorry. I am actually going to pencil it in on my calendar to update the site weekly. I am making this commitment because I am so much more excited now that I have the ability to post pictures, sounds, and videos to this website. Although since about two students a year actually read this site, I have to find a way to make the site more of a must read for my students. So, since the upcoming topic of discussion in Global science is going to be about the work wetlands do, you can expect to see some information relating to that. As for the Earth science students they will be learning about mid latitude weather systems. They can all expect to see some information relating to storm systems.

In years past I have attempted to teach students as much as possible about all aspects of environment and ecology concepts. This year I will be limiting the curriculum to those environment and ecology concepts that are the most relevant to students of this generation.

I’m sure few students are as excited as I am to start the new school year. However, once the initial dread of beginning another school year has passed I hope that at least some students are eager to learn. I am looking forward to meeting many new students and to work with some of the students I’ve already had. This school year I am looking to try a few new things with my classes. For more specific information pertaining to each class click on the link of the class you are taking on the right side of this site.
