Mr. Young: Science @ SHS

Science @ SHS

The 1st semester is almost over

As always it has been way too long since I last updated my site. With all I have going on in both my professional career and personal life free time is very limited. We only have 2 weeks left until half of the school year is behind us. That probably means a lot more to me than it does to my students. I was hoping to have a lot more accomplished at this point of the school year than I do.  I plan to continue to challenge my students in the classroom as I will be continually challenged outside of the classroom.

Only 27 Weeks Left…. To Make A Difference

As usual it has been a long time since the last time I posted a comment. I am attempting to remind all of you students that you only have 27 weeks to make a difference this year. Many people have the frame of mind that would be “bummed” out to hear we are only 1/4 of the way into the school year. You only get one shot at this whole high school thing so you might as well make it the best that you can. So many students think school is a drag. I wonder why this is? I think it has to do with our inability to see school as an opportunity. Many students see school as something they have to do that wastes time better spent doing other activities. I must ask. Where else could an individual gain the ability to provide for themselves and create the life they want for free? Over the next several months I hope to open my students eyes to the truly unique experience school can be. We must also begin to realize that doing just enough to get by will no longer prepare an individual for the future they will be facing. More to come on this subject soon.

These facts and figures should blow your mind!!!

Please take the time to read the information on the website I have put under my links section titled “will natural resources limit human population”. It relates to every individual on the planet and as a global citizen we should all be aware of how we impact the earth.

Sorry it’s been so long.

It has been a long time since I updated a post. I must point out how busy life is at the moment. I am currently being pulled in several different directions. I have a demanding teaching schedule in which I am always trying to improve my teaching strategies. I am enrolled in two master courses. I have recently been appointed as the tech advisor for SHS. I still work at Wickes Lumber. On top of all of this I am also in the middle of completely renovating my entire home where I am doing almost all of the work myself. I use to always update my site in my free time. I currently have no free time. In fact the only reason I am updating the site now is because I am procrastinating and trying to avoid writing a paper for one of my masters courses. I am going to do my best to add a few links and post a few interesting science related posts for any of you interested in material relating to the classes I teach. Please check back in the near future for some interesting topics to discuss.
