1. “Flying” is really cool.

2. I like being able to add a destination in driving directions.

3. Initially, I may just introduce the students to the applications. I would like to use it to help them learn how to give and follow directions to a destination.

I liked the flying to different destinations. I really liked creating a map. I did one on all of the places my different family members live. I will use this as a tool for the resource students with their different assignments depending on what they need.

1. I was impressed by the amount of data/images available in earth
2. Maps is like an expanded mapquest… great for a geography teacher
3. I will try to apply some of this as I approach geographic themes… Perhaps the dustbowm migration or the freedom rides of the 1960′s

1. I like the layers the best in Google Earth – they provide awesome links to articles and further information while providing a visual location.

2. I think the best feature of Google maps is getting directions and saving them for future trips.

3. I will use these applications in as many ways as I can – I haven’t figured thought of the lessons yet! More to come…

1. I liked the high resolution photos in Google Earth and the ability to cruise around cities such as Paris.
2. The ablilty to add detials to the tabs in Google Maps made it a more useful program. That, combined with its lower bandwidth demands.
3. I can use Maps with my students to help bring a piece of literature to life through a geographic presentation or assignment.

Wow, What a great way for the kids to see the world and understand from Google Earth how people live. The pictures from this site take you right to the place. Jokingly I said why take a vacation. this takes you right there. Sadly, for many of our kids this is the only way they will every ssee other parts of the world.

Google Earth – What an amazing website. I really liked moving around on the glob and finding some of the new seveen wonders of the earth. The Core connections to the internet were really helpful. ie. National Geographic website.

I liked the fact that Google Map is online and is easily used to get directions and find out what is near the location you may be staying.

I can use this to show students in the library a new tool.

1. Google Earth was awesome. Students will really be blown away by this program.

2. The ability to save your maps and create destinations is great. It seems like there are more options in Google Maps than in other mapping programs I have used.

3. I definitely will use both applications this coming fall. I am not sure yet how I will integrate these applications, but they will be integrated!

There was a ton of material done in a short amount of time. Perhaps too short. The overview, however, was excellent, and was refreshing and certainly not boring. It was incredibly focused. Thgose who are motivated will take this intro and go with it. I will.

1. I found it fascinating to zoom in and travel with a view as if I was flying over the countryside. Doing searches on specific places like national parks and olympic parks are beneficial so you can group the students into focusing on specific areas.

2. Googling with maps was fascinating making the comparison to Mapquest.

3. Teaching regions of the US in socail studies.

1. Google Earth was interesting to use. Maps, pics, etc… Enjoy the sat. views.

2. Like Google Maps because it seems a little more user friendly. Just need to use it often to become more comfortable with it.

3. I hope to be able to talk some of my faculty members into integrating this into some of their projects. See a lot of potential with with a number of curr. areas.

I am not sure that I had enough time with Google Earth to really know how to use it with my class or what parts I liked best.

Google maps was very interesting. I think Grade 4 studies the regions of the United States. Students could use Google maps to tour each region and find out information of interest in the various regions of the U.S.

2. I liked the feature of transporting the virtual tour between the two.

3. Depending on age group teaching, this could be utilized in a variety of study areas.

1. I really liked doing the google earth. It was interesting that I could zoom in to other places that I know I will never visit. I also got a few teaching ideas from just tooling around.

2.I have used google maps before but I learned a great deal of other things that I didn’t know was possible. I didn’t know that an account could be created and I could save the maps to my account. Sometiems it is a pain to go back in a re-type all of the information.

3. I will use this with my students by having them visit a variety of places, museums, zoos, places in PA. I thought it might be nice to even map the vacations that each of my students took this summer. It sounds fun and something that is real for each of them.

I really liked Google Earth. My brother is currently living in Cape Town South Africa and it was really need to get a birds eye veiw on the area where he is living. I also really liked the lit trips. That would be a really cool way to make books come alive for the kids.

I liked the traffic reports on the google maps. I could see how that would be usefull if you lived in a larger city.

Google Earth would directly tie into many topographical subects in science. It would be neat to look at the different shapes of the coastlines over time.

I really enjoyed learning about google maps and earth. I see where these programs can be helpful to social studies teachers. I will be able to show students government buildings and other historic places using these programs. I liked the three dimensional pictures but found that they were at times hard to see. I could see this program being used for more than one class and students developing an understanding for the google programs throughout their education.

I think that google earth and google maps are beneficial to our students mostly because of the amount of visual wealth that these 2 programs provide. I think that the students would have a great time just bouncing from place to place if given the opportunity, but if a tour is set up, then the student will know exactly what places they are allowed to explore. If there is free time, it would be nice to show the students some of the different sights though because I’m sure that a large population of our students have not done much traveling. The articles and pictures are also wonderful. This is great, and I’ll have to figure out some way to incorporate this into my lessons!!!
